Navigon 2150 Max now shipping in the UK

Navigon’s 2150 Max isn’t revolutionary in terms of design nor specifications, but it does feature a rather delicious list of features for just £229.99 ($458). All-too-trusting UK motorists can look forward to a 4.3-inch display, pre-loaded maps of 39 countries, built-in Bluetooth, text-to-speech and support for live traffic information. Oh, and in case our header was unclear, it’s shipping this very moment in time.

Re-views.org | Dell debuts Studio Hybrid line of “petite” desktop PCs

Dell debuts Studio Hybrid line of \"petite\" desktop PCs

Like most product from Dell these days, there’s little surprise left in Dell’s Studio Hybrid desktop lineup of eco-friendly little PCs. First unveiled as a bamboo-clad concept in April, the computer is finally being released by the hardware giant with a starting price of $499, with interchangeable sleeves of Bamboo, Emerald, Quartz, Ruby, Sapphire, Slate and Topaz — the latter six being of the shiny plastic ilk. Dell isn’t slouching on specs though, and seems to realize the potential of the Studio Hybrid — which can be stood vertically or horizontally — in the living room. There’s an HDMI port standard, along with options for WiFi, a wireless keyboard and mouse, Blu-ray and a TV tuner. Dell doesn’t ignore the “green” roots of this project, either, and is including a system recycling kit, along with the natural reduction in packing and manufacturing materials. The Studio Hybrid should be available today.

Dell\'s new Inspiron 13 and Inspiron 518 are after your back to school dollar

Dell has never failed to provide compelling reasons — particularly pricetags — for students and / or their cash-strapped parents to pick up a Dell desktop or laptop on the way back to school. This year seems no exception, with Dell adding some special Inspiron configurations to its already beefy budget lineups. The Inspiron 13 laptop (pictured) is pretty much laptop 101, with a 13-inch screen, 8-in-1 media card reader and slot-loading DVD drive in the base model — you’ll have to fork over extra for WiFi, a webcam or Bluetooth. Wal-mart will be carrying a $699 version starting August 3rd, with full configuration coming to Dell.com later that month. The Inspiron 518 desktop (after the break) is similarly straightforward, with DirectX 10 integrated graphics, gigabit Ethernet and a pair of easy-access USB ports on top of the case, in addition to options for a 500GB hard drive and quad core processors. The starting price is $349, and the systems should be available today.

LEGO Mindstorms ready for Tuesday space launch

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of LEGO Mindstorms, a group of professors, middle-school students, and corporate nerds will be launching several Mindstorms robots into near-space. The High Altitude LEGO Extravaganza (HALE) project will set the robots aloft in an atmospheric weather balloon shortly before sunrise this morning outside of Reno, Nevada. At about 100,000 feet (30km) the balloon will burst and the robots will parachute back to terra firma collecting data and photographs along the way. One robot named Lil’ Joe will attempt a world record free-fall decent before deploying its parachute on a pre-programmed schedule. Mind you, the world record is attributable to Mindstorms NXT free-fall, a title we expect is currently held by your little brother sleeping upstairs.

Re-views.org | Portable Bluetooth speaker should really be called BlueTorch

Portable Bluetooth speaker should really be called BlueTorch

There is a new portable Bluetooth speaker system that looks a little more like a torch. It’s a nameless device, so for purposes of this post, I will call it the “BlueTorch”.

The BlueTorch supports profiles including A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, and HSP which means it can pair with either cell phones or portable media players. I could see this being more useful for Bluetooth capable PMP’s than cell phones, but I guess it would be good either way. The nice thing about the BlueTorch is that it also can connect to other devices using old school wires.

Additionally, the device sports 2 channels which each offer an output of 2 watts and comes with a frequency zone of 20Hz - 20kHz. Lastly, you can keep it playing by plugging it into an AC adapter or with USB connectivity.

It is set to be available in Japan for 7980 Yen, or around $76 US.

Revo iBLIK RadioStation and Wi-Fi rocking the world

Revo has recently introduced the world’s one-box DAB/DAB+ and internet radio that includes full iPod functionality with the iBLIK RadioStation.  This would be the first time that Revo has forayed into the iPod market.  Better late than never, I guess.

The Revo iBLIK RadioStation also features FM radio coverage with RDS, Wi-Fi Internet radio (with easy access to eleven thousand stations), MP3 media streaming from the PC or Mac, even a full electric alarm clock.
